I am introvert, idea person, a reader and I enjoyed Avil's Bookish Notes from a variety of authors. I applied what I learned in Technique for Producing Ideas by James Webb Young to solve a business problem I have. I enjoyed the structure of the Bookish Note, her summary of the book and her insights.

I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Avil through the Ellevate Network – a community of professional women committed to helping each other succeed.
What followed after was an invitation to join her “Read 30 Books in 30 Days Reading Challenge”. I didn’t think it would be that difficult until I started. I have chosen to start with a book that Avil advised against – and after a couple of attempts I gave up. Avil explained to me what went wrong the first time and convinced me to try again; this time following the reading strategy and using the tools she has very thoughtfully created.
This time it worked like a charm! When I looked at my own reading habits, I realized that my reading habits were mostly reactive, not proactive. If an interesting link flashed across my phone screen on Facebook, Instagram or Email, then I would read it as a reaction. I wasn't proactively making time to read books in general. I was simply reading interesting ideas that were pushed in front of me.
Another key step I learnt from Avil while I was going through her reading challenge was to make notes of what I was reading. Being creative to underline, highlight and write at the end of each chapter the main points helped me a lot when going back to review what I've read before.
Reading the right books helped me learn key skills as well as develop a cultural awareness and the sensitivity needed to get along with others. Reading the right way – gave me power.
Avil is a dynamic, passionate and caring writer, coach and book-a-holic with an uncanny ability to engage audiences and motivate others to get out of their comfort zones and take on new challenges.
